WOMEN BUILD
Since 1991, Habitat’s Women Build volunteers have come together from all walks of life to build stronger, safer communities around the world. Habitat for Humanity of Wausau hosted our first Women Build event in the summer of 2024!
Women and children are the most likely to be affected by poor living conditions, Women Build events provide the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities.
Who will Women Build help?
Women Build volunteers, donors and supporters help complete Habitat Homes. Single moms are the largest growing demographic in Marathon County and the majority of families served by Habitat Wausau in recent years have been hard working single moms. Volunteers will work alongside our partner families as they work hard to achieve their goals of homeownership!
What type of experience do you need?
Our goal is to empower women to help Habitat families build strength, stability and independence. At Habitat, we have the ability to provide opportunities for hands-on learning, and when offered these tools, women can succeed in changing their communities.
No experience is necessary. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, alongside other volunteers, and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved, and it improves the community that you share.
You Can Help!
Women Build is a terrific way to involve your friends and family ages 18 years and up, in crucial work with a lasting impact. You can also come on your own and make new friends; the atmosphere is collaborative and friendly! Women Build 2026 volunteer signup for August and September will be opening in April, but you can reserve your spot, make a donation and sponsor the event using the link below!
