Volunteer Opportunities

We rely on hundreds of volunteers every year to carry out our mission.

Be a part of increasing access to affordable housing for families in the Greater Wausau Area by lending a hand on a construction site, committee, or at our ReStore. Find the volunteer opportunity below that is right for you!

ReStore

Building a house requires more than just a hammer! Habitat for Humanity ReStores generate
funds for home construction and critical home repairs by selling donated new and used home
improvement items. Our ReStore is a hub for home improvement and charitable contributions.
We offer a wide range of new and lightly used furniture, appliances, home improvement items,
and building materials at significantly discounted prices compared to retail. Volunteers work as
cashiers, receiving assistants, merchandisers, material recyclers and donation pick-up drivers.
Youth age 14 and up can volunteer in our ReStore with an adult.

Construction

Want to swing a hammer to help a family in need? Sign up for one of our construction volunteer
roles. You do not need any construction experience- we will teach you everything you need to
know and provide you with all the tools to get the job done safely.
Volunteers must be 16 years old to volunteer on an active construction site.

Build Site Volunteer hours for 2025 are Monday and Wednesdays 8am to 12pm.

Serve on a Committee

At Habitat we offer many different committees that community members can serve on. Share
your expertise on one of the following committees: Construction, Faith, Family Selection, Family Services, Finance, Fundraising, Marketing, Retail Finance and Rock The Block! Most committees meet once each month, and some offer virtual opportunities to connect.

Office

Do you have a skill that would help us stay organized and promote Habitat’s mission? Do you
enjoy assisting with mailings and office work? Volunteering in our office (located at the ReStore)
is a great way to be involved in our efforts. Office hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Every Age Group Can Make a Difference

Every age group is impacted by the affordable housing crisis in Marathon County. At Habitat for
Humanity of Wausau, we want to engage every age group in being part of the solution. Whether
you want to volunteer with family, complete school volunteer hours, or just make a difference,
we have a project for you!
